At a guess, battery contact (on battery or inside the machine,) damaged. Reading the manual,,it seems the "power selection door" might have some electrical function as well as being a door. Check it's going into the right place. I guess there's a possibility that whatever it switches or the switch is damaged - check whether there are and tabs or levers etc associated with the power selection door.
