Thinkpad 600x error 161?

My thinkpad 600x was working fine. Not knowing about the cmos/password shorting pads near the cmos batt and DIMM, i disconned the cmos battery to wipe the password. It now accepts a blank password entry, but gives me the 161 error and wont let me into the bios at all, in fact no keys work. I know what the code means, and my battery tested fine with 2.8volts. All i did was unplug it! WHO HERE KNOWS HOW TO FIX THIS??? I am not going to replace the motherboard, i KNOW it has no problems, but it is the only other fix the manual suggests, after replacing the cmos batt.

When you start your machine you get an error code and probably two beeps.
Press 'Esc'.
The error code and beeps should then repeat - press F1 and the machine should boot.
If you have a fully charged battery and mains power, you can re-flash the bios by downloading from the Lenovo support site.
