Indesit WD12 Does not heat up during drying process?

The machine was on, strange burning smell, then the dial continued to click round and round until we stopped it and re-set. Since then, the machine does not get hot.

The indesit WD12 Definately does not heat up during the dryer cycle.

I don't think it heats during the wash cycle either, I have tried it on 90deg wash, but did not let the cycle end. I have been told that the cycle would not complete if the water heater was faulty. I will test this tonight to see if the wash cycle is ok or not.

However, the drying defianetly does not heat - its been through a full cycle and the clothes are stone cold on exiting the machine (immediately after it stopping).

Is there an easy to replace part I could change myself?

There's a great description for this dryer in article 38467...

ALL WASHER DRIERS ARE FITTED WITH TEMPS(THERMAL FUSES). IF YOUR MACHINE OVERHEATS DUE TO BLOCKAGES OF THE AIRFLOW OVER THE ELEMENTS OR BLOWER FAILIURE, THESE WILL BLOW AND GO OPEN CIRCUIT.THEY ARE LOCATED ON THE TOP OF THE ELEMENT CASING AND ARE EASILY REPLACED BUT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE FAULT FAULT FIRST!

if there was a strange smell i would check the wireing and terminal conections first
