I have a 2002 astra estate regularly stalled at lights and roundabouts and had an intermittent misfire. Engine warning light came on and visited my local garage. Diagnostic revealed misfire on cyl. 3 &4.

They replaced the coil pack and bingo running sweet as a button.

getting my 1.6 16v ecotec engine sorted soon. had full service and it still cuts out now and then. Do the EGR thing as above first.
Its also been suggested that there are updates available for the ECU from vauxhall. Some have been charged around £40 for this although some are getting the treatment gratis.
I'm goin for the latter.

Hope this helps

Sounds like the EGR valve - classic symptoms. The EGR valve is the silver "tower" sitting on top of the manifold at the rear centre of the engine: it has an electrical connector. You can try to remove it for cleaning BUT you will experience little success - change it! Its purpose is to control nitrous oxide formation in the exhaust gasses and recirculate them (in principle!!).
