how do i fix a vhs tape that moves up and down thru the scenes?

my vhs tapes of things ive tape are old and now the quality is so bad that it is difficult to watch. how can that be fixed

Loss of tracking ect is due to tape path problems, could be the capstan pinch roller worn, really your machine need a service and tape path adjustments done.
