How do I fix VHS that will not eject with out ruining tape?

I have a SUPERSCAN TV/DVD/VHS combination. The VHS tape will not work and when I attempt to remove it, it ejects with the tape hung up inside the VHS player. I can only remove the tape by pulling and ruining the tape. Any help?

problem in the mode switch or spool clutch. there may also be some paper off a label stuck inside. if in doubt get it looked at by a pro.
