cant install windows xp home?

I have a sony vaio, and I tried using the resotration cd to install windows xp home. I tried installing it several times, but I keep getting "bad Pool caller." Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

Correct to say only you would do that as well!! Sorry 4 the snit comment every one, but i am tired of those who know little about the nothing they do know and post answers to help people who are (unlike those of the previous commenter's nature) just here to get help.... not skeptical half-wit input of someone who is educated at only being a half wit know-it-all that is certain of only one thing.... "Maybe if I just become a nerd it'll justify what my parents think is social awkwardness...."

could be a number of things - always try the easy ones first.

Unplug all usb devices such as printers scanners try to install xp then update drivers afterwards.

Could be a loose card inside the machine. if you undo the machine without affecting warranty do that and ensure all video, sound etc cards are tight in the slots

I would completely reformat the hard disk and start anew, but thats what i would do !
