Durabrand (PACIFIC) PSTB-1?

I have a Pacific Freeview box now made by Durabrand and it is on constant Standby, left the box on over night when I came down in the morning it was on STANDBY and now it will not come out of Standby Mode when power is left off and put back on.

Can anyone tell me the exact component which has failed so I can replace it, I know they are cheap boxes but I wish to replace this for an electronic project I am doing.

How do i reset the freeview box when i can't remeber the menu code

ONE OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS IVE FOUND TO GO ON THESE BOXES AND CAUSE STANDBY POWER FAULTS IS IC601 LOCATED JUST BEHIND THE POWER LEAD CONNECTOR ON THE R/HAND SIDE OF THE PCB. I HOPE THIS IS OF SOME HELP

I have the exact same problem - does anyone know of a manual reboot? for this device?

Thanks t for your answer, I am studying electronics so one day I might be able to locate the fault and perhaps fix it.

You would have thought in this day and age you would be able to fix it and not throw it away (Environmental friendly).

No one can tell you the exact component to replace because they are not there to do the trouble shooting - I'm afraid that is you.

To trouble shoot a STB (or any electronics) you need a knowledge of electronics, know how a STB works generically, and have a circuit diagram. It is unlikely that yo will be able to get a circuit for the box because they are bought in by WallMart/Asda and, being budget boxes, are not designed to be repaired but replaced as a unit.
