Homelite 350 will not start?

Just got an older Homelite 350 Automatic that will not start. Do not know how to check spark on these models because there is no plug boot, it has what I guess is called a transformer. When I prime the carb it will just kind of backfire and pop but will not start. Any help before I part it out would be very welcome. Thanks

Mark, did you ever get your Homelite 350 started? If not I'd be interested in buying the complete unit as back-up parts for my 350...

First, make sure the wires to the switch/Module are not shorting out the spark. Then check the air gap of the module/rotor(.010-.012).
If no help, then you can remove the rear switch housing,
keeping the wires attached. Make a shorting wire between the spark plug and the transformer. If no spark can be detected then you have either a Module or a Transformer failure.
I stock parts for both current and Vintage HOMELITE models.
