follow the fuel pipe from the fiter head to a black box then to fuel pump there should be a 17 mm nut on top now you have found that turn engine over for ten sec .now tern key so glow plug light comes on and leve it there go back to 17mm nut and turn anti clockwise air should come out bubbles then just fuel now re tighten nut hold pipe as you do and dont let pipe get in the way of levers if it dose not start repeat above 4 times if you have been pushing black button on top of fillter then you will prob need a new one as thay are crap and let in air ford do a kit for 70 pound pump and fillter.get lots of rags to mop up spilt fuel and some gloves fit new ford filterkit but leve pipe to fuel pump off now pump button till you get fuel now put pipe on and bleed air from rest of system as above do no use button

remove outlet pipe from filter head (the one that goes to pump) by pressing in the two lugs on end and pulling. pump hand primer untill fuel comes (catching displaced fuel ) refit pipe and start up.sometimes pump primer valves get rust etc under seats and pump wont work. on outlet pipe next to cam cover is a connector where factory use (on build up) to use a vac pump to draw fuel through.try this if faulty primer. screw on bottom of filter is for draining not bleeding.

I've got the same problem so if you find the answer let me know. According to the owners manual you slacken of the bleed screw which is near the top of the fuel filter and then use the hand pump untill all the air is dispelled. My bleed screw is on the bottom of the filter and using the same method does not solve the problem.
