i have an emachines pc and have xp. i have recently installed a dell 926 printer with drivers etc from the cd. after it completed the test print page a message came up from my macafee security saying a program wanted to access the internet which i allowed and now when i start the pc up it freezes when the desktop comes up and i cannot even access the task manager. i have tried diconnecting the printer with no joy and i am not able to uninstall the printer as i cannot do anything with the desktop.

Try forcing it into safemode by pressing F8 (i think on e machine) as soon as you switch on. This will give you a safemode menu , choose the top of the list option "start in safe mode" this should start a basic desktop to enable access to control panel\add remove .
