how do i remove the base of my compaq nc6120 laptop?

i have all the screws out that i can see but it still seems to be very tight around the back like it is still screwed in and i dont want to force it.

You don't. Most of the internals are accessed by removing the keyboard as the system board lies beneath this. Generally speaking with laptops, you remove screws from the underside to release the keyboard which lifts out from the top, allowing you access to most components.
