If the engine won't start and theres pulses of resistance on the pull cord then compression is proberly not the problem.
Be aware that some of these engines are fitted with a compression relef valve for easy starting, If this is stuck open then there may not be anuff to allow the engine to start so check this before rendering the engine useless
