Craftsman 1000 LTX Riding Mower. Dead. New battery?

Craftsman 1000 LTX Riding Mower Model 917272442. Dead. Worked last week. New battery this spring. Charged it overnight to be sure. Still dead. Fuse is good. Won't so much as turn over... Need a DIY solution. Laid off my job of 23 years. What is the most likely cause? Seat switch? Ignition switch? I've been using this mower every week for 5 years without fail (except for the new battery a couple months ago.) Thanks, -=Vince

It could also be that your starter solenoid went bad. Or, it could be that the contacts for the key switch are corroded, or the key switch itself is bad.

It could be that one of the "kill" switches on the unit is bad. The easiest way to test this it to remove the small wire from the coil/magneto. If it starts, then you have a defective kill switch somewhere. Kill switches are associated with the seat, brake and blade engage/disengage process. There may be other kill switches, but these are the most common. I hope this helps.
