99 vw passat 1.8t cut off while in reverse. when started later on, car was making a sqealing noise and when I parked I noticed it was leaking fluid. It appears to be transmission fluid.
im not to sure which fluid you are leaking but i took mine to a garage and was told and charged to have yet another steering rack fitted a week later im still finding high levels of fluid under the right front end of the passat which is r reg possible 1998 i do not know if this is similar to you
