my transit diesel van is smoking?

my transit van is blowing out black smoke constantly all the time ive give it a oil and filter change and its still the same and its not berning any oil wat could it be

iv got 2005 transit blowing black smoke and loosing power ,replaced all four injectors and has cured the problem hope this helps

My vans the same took the intercooler off and pipes bk to the engine and all are full of black sludge cleaned out and not as bad but not solved it yet. Also cleaned egr valve!

Don't listen to any of these answers, you have already said its black smoke so i don'y know why these people are giving you all the answers for bluse smoke problems. its either a problem with your fuel pump or injectors. If you have problems with starting up even when warm then its most likely the pump,if you do not then its probably just the injectors.

Three common things it could be. 1st Blown headgasket 2nd damaged cylinder boars/piston rings. 3rd worn valve stems. 2nd and 3rd would mean you need a new lump as it is more ecenomical than to repair damage. If you change your head gasket dont forget to check big ends ect..

What's the air filter like? Also burning oil will give you blue smoke.
