Fixing a monitor cable?

Hallo Gens,

hope you can help me with this one. i have a broken monitor cable (a PackardBell SlimView 512) for which the manufacturer doesn't want to provide a replacement for it since I should renew the warranty (pretty acceptable, but a warranty cost nearly as much as a new monitor), so I decided to fix it myself. Could you help me with the wiring diagram? Are all monitors wiring the same or do they differ from brand to brand? What do the colors mean? Thanks in advance.

I'm not going to mess around with the back of the monitor but rather with the plug that goes into the video card of my pc.

Unless you know what your doing I wouldn't recommend poking around in the back of a monitor. There are some high voltages back there, even if the monitor hasn't been used for a few days.

I speak from experience.
