My screen will not show?

When I try to turn on my tv. The television turns on you, you hear noise, but the picture will not come on. The screen will still look like it is not turned on. Can someone please help me with this problem before I go insane.

That kind of problem is not a DIY prospect because of the potentially lethal voltages inside a TV set., I am afraid that the answer is to take it to the repair shop.
