I have a replacement for the bracket that fixes to the body of the machine but don't know how to fit it. The bracket has two Phillips screws, but the guy in the shop told me there is a fixing plate inside that needs to be held in place else it will drop down. This mean getting inside the machine, but how do I do that. It looks as though the whole thing needs to come apart, which I am loathe to do.

I sorted it myself. It turns out that you can just undo the screws on the bracket. There's no fixing plate on the inside that will drop off if you undo the screws.
