406 hdi fuel gauge problem?

i have a 406 hdi s estate(03) the needle does not give accurate readings it could be half way and after a few days it might go up and trip computer may show an extra 150 miles to refill. when its time to fill up, if or example i only put in £10.00 fuel the needle might go up to where it normally £20.00 and then rapidally decline. also mpg average is only 30 urban according to the trip computer.

Could be the sender uint in the tank, could be the cars software, without a trip to a Peugeot dealer you aint going to know which it is.

Hope it aint the tank sender as they are expensive to change as the tank has to be dropped.

The 406 was never designed to have HDI power & thats why the hole under the rear seat isnt big enough to get a HDI tank sender / pump unit through.
