Hoo do i get the computer to keep the updated date and time?

my laptop keeps changing date and time every time it is shut down. it automatically goes to either year 1999 or 1830 and time is always wrong.
is there away to disable the oclock? and how can i fixt the date problem?

replace the bios battery most probably are you geting any warnings about cmos or bios when it starts? if so find a bios/cmos battery for your machine and just replace it. any problems email support@ellistechnical.co.uk
