Craftsman 16.0, 42", manual clutch. Not sure what I hit in tall weeds and grass....lots of clattering and smoke. Disengaged blades and things seemed to be normal unitl I tried to engage blades again. Now, the attachment clutch control on the dash moves freely and nothing happens when I move it to the engage position. I can move blades by hand, belt is on but seems loose. Blades are not bent.

Check to make sure the pulley that tightens the belt is free to move. (some get rusty and won't move to tighten when the lever is moved)
