How do I turn on goodmans television 289NS with no remote?

I have lost the remote and the TV remains in standby - i cannot turn it on despite pressing every button in sight. I have bought a Masterplug 4in1 Remote but you need to turn the TV on to enter the code!!! Any ideas? Thanks

I was given a goodmans 285SN(B) without a remote, i plugged it in and pushed the power button on the front and it came on to bbc1 by itself. Daft question, have you tried pushing the channel up button inside the front flap?
