Can I change the Harddrive in my desktop?

My desktop is 7years old and has a 3GB harddrive is it possible to just remove it and replace it with any unit with a higher capacity of any make. The motherboard is Chaintech. Many thanks DEREK.

I don't know your motherboard, so I can't give you a specific answer.

Older PCs may not be 100% compatible with modern large hard disks. One issue can be that your PC can only address hard disks up to a certain size. So were you to buy a large disk, lets say 100GB for example, you may find that your PC needs you to partition it as 10x10GB drives. This is okay, but not what you would want ideally.

Check Chaintech's website to see if they mention any limitations.
