This summer I put on the air conditioing and it doesnt work. Whar are the things I should be checking. Its a 1997 1.6 Arctic.

My 1997 had this problem. Check the wiring loom where it goes into the compressor. Standing at the front of the car, the compressor is on the bottom left hand side of the engine. The loom is easier accessed if you undo a couple of the bolts holding the plastic shield under the bumper. I fixed the wire and it works a treat now!
