How can i know if my flash drive has a defect or it just have a virus?

when i insert and open my usb in our computer it works but sometimes when i plug it into another computer i need to reformat it again... it is making me nuts.... when i save a folder in my usb sometimes the folder just disappear..when i open the usb to other computer...

Is the Format different on each machine? (probably; FAT, FAT32, NTFS?).
Please use an anti virus program to scan the drive BEFORE using the files on it.
Don't give it to another machine, if it was infected.
