How can I fix my 14.5 Briggs and Stratton lawnmower ignition timing?

My ignition timing is too advanced. How can I slow it down to stop the popping and flat battery effects?
Alan Pelt, September 2007
Check your valve adjustment and also inspect your flywheel key for any deformation if any at all replace it.

Ignition Timing is not the problem. Valve timing is out. Check valve clearances. 0.008" Exhaust 0.006" Inlet
