My Murray Riding Tractor is not Turing over to start?

I have a Murray 15.5 HP/42" 6 Speed Riding Tractor and is was starting to make a poping noise when ever I shut it off. I have replaced the spark plug and every time I try to start the tractor the engine cranks up but never turning over to start.

Hi Chase-
I had the exact same prob with my older CubCadet, and found that I had no compression. Either a stuck valve,thrown rod, or???
Check to see if you've got compression and we'llgo from there.
As for mine, I Haven't been that deep into an engine since I was 14 (LONG ago!) and since the rest of the unit was tired, I replaced it with (drum roll,please...) a Murray 42"with a 15.5HP. Now perhaps you can help me- Could you give me the model # off your Murray? Mine's missing and I can't get parts without it!
