my rover 75 will turn over but not fire up?

my rover 75 is turning over but not firing there is a buzzing sound from around the fuel injection

I take it that your car is petrol.
9 times out of ten this fault is caused by fuel pressure being lost in the tank.
lift the rear seat remove the access hatch behind the passenger seat remove fuel pipe (quick release) unscrew securing ring then lift out the unit. You should then notice that the lower half of the unit has turned just a little, it can only need a slight twist to reseal the two halves together. x-part do a clip to stop this happening again.
should only take a few minutes to fix.

Really need more info to make diagnosis:

1. Remove spark plug. Does it have fuel on it?

Yes: Then the ignition system is probably faulty.

No: Then there may be no fuel pressure- Is the fuel pump operating?- Turn ignition on the fuel pump should run for two seconds- if not then check fuses etc.

Yes: Then the injectors may not be operating- The clicking from a working injector can be clearly heard through a piece of wood/screwdriver etc whilst the engine is cranked by an assistant.

Is there a spark at the spark plugs?

If there is neither ignition spark nor injector operation then the most probable cause is a faulty crankshaft position sensor.

Modern engine management systems are highly complex. remember that these tests although straightforward for a professional can be potentially fatal. If in any doubt regarding the safety aspects involved. Leave it alone!
