wiring dia req for shower 9.5kw (from dist board)?

wired shower from 40a mcb in dist board to 40a pullcord in b/room, then to shower.N eutral to dist board terminal block & earth.But when shower switched on rcd on dist board trips?? left shower disconected and no trip of rcd? IS SHOWER THE FAULT? HELP!

The c. unit is split load, and cable was 6mm i think, was told at wholesalers it was sufficient for shower.
