I've had the Pioneer DVR-RT500 less than a year and have generally played commercial DVDs on it, along with a few DVRs.

Over the past week I've been watching some DVRs almost exclusively. Now, when I put in a commercial DVD (I've tried several) I get the "Incorrect disc - C104" error. DVRs play fine.

Any ideas what's wrong here? Someone on another forum suggested powering down or unplugging the unit to "clear" it.

Probably a dirty laser might want to get a cleaning disc and try it.This is also caused by a weak laser which will cost more then the things worth.Discs can also be a problem on this machine as well,I have had good luck with the cheap memorex discs but bad luck with some of the others,I hope this helps you.I have had mine for about 3 yrs now and its giving me a lot of problems now,I don't think these are very good units and have read that the lasers don't last too long.I priced the drive thru Pioneer and they want a fortune for it.
