Zafira idling?

I have a 2002 1.8Cd Zafira and occasionally the idling rides between +-600 and 1000 odd revs. most of the time a prod on the accelerator pedal brings it back to normal but lately it does not always work. Any ideas???

normally the butterfly sticks inside the air intake.
remove plastic cover on top of engine 2* star drive screws, remove jubilee clip from air intake and pull plastice intake to one side. then clean with carberetta cleaner and problem should be fixed.
