how can i fix the door lock on a hotpoint aquarius extra 1300?

the door on my hotpoint aquarius extra wont lock, the indicator light just flashes. on the day it broke i had a power cut and the machine was at the end cycle the door indicator light came on after the power came back on 1 min later
