cam belt on fiat punto 55s 3door Mreg?

my drive belt snapped at about 40km/hr, will it be possible to
just renew the belt or will there be engine damage ps advise?

If that's a 1.2, I remember seeing a quote on a fiat owners site that it doesn't cause engine damage if the belt goes. Fit a belt and see what happens. Fingers crossed all round.
