cd changer problem BMW 318 ci 2000?

When i put cds in my cd changer it comes up no discs why is this when it has worked since i've had the car. It has only done this since coming back off holiday when it wasn't used for a week.

Gareth have you tried a lens cleaner? If you try that and also clean the discs and if it still doesn't work, then it's to the menders me thinks.
