try having the wiring harness underneath replaced. By that, i mean the part that protudes into the washer off the lid, it hits a connection underneath. it sounds like that piece underneath is what is broken. i just had to replace mine, as it was doing the exact same thing yours is. it will cost you about $30 to replace it, if you know of anyone who will do the job for you.
