Hotpoint dryer CDT40 is not heating - altho element appears ok?

All the lights are working as they should on the Hotpoint Aquarius CDT40 - but yet it is not getting hot. Father has had a look at the element and thinks that is fine - but as this is a while ago - cannot be too sure on that.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be fluff around the thermostat. The engineer give it a good vacum and all is fine now.
