I'm not sure if we are talking about the same model, but I had this problem and to fix it I removed the screw on the handel and removed the plate. In there they had a cheap piece of metal that had broken. I"m not sure what it was called but I replaced it with a small electrical device that I had to alter a little to make it fit.The piece is used to connect a wire to a screw. It has a small tube on one end and on the other end a flat piece with a hole in it, that goes on a screw. This discription is what this piece looks like that I used to replace the one that was broken...ken
