Pilot light keeps going out?

I have a potterton netaheat electronic Ep2000 boiler, the pilot light keeps going out, (it will ignite when it first comes on, but after that there is a spark but does not ignite) therefore I get no hot water or radiators, my gas man came out and had a look and charged me £47.00 but the problem is still there and I cannot get hold of him!!!
Would I need a new thermal couple? Is this a common fault?

Thanks Barry, now I am worried, is my boiler going to blow up?
the gas man when he did come out did not appear to be unduly worried that it would.

I would imagine the boiler is the original in which case it would be about 17 years old, I did see someone had a similar problem to mine in 2005 and they were told the spark bracket may have burnt away...... have not the faintest ideal what that is or where I would get a new one.
