'94 Astra 1.4 - Not starting?

Hi,

My 94 Astra 1.4 has just decided not to start. Have checked

Battery - Fine and recharged just to be sure, but it never sounded like a battery problem, just not firing.
Plugs - Seemed fine colour wise, but replaced just to be sure.
Petrol - check
Connections - All wiring seems to be connected up fine, as per Haynes

It's turning over but just not firing. Anyone have any ideas, I'm gonna check the fuel pump as per Haynes, but one thing has left me a bit stumped, how do you manually turn over the engine?

Any ideas much appreciated.

hi to manually turn over the engine just get either a 19 mm ring or socket spanner and on your left facing the engine where your cam belt fits turn the bottom wheel NOTE DO NOT ATTEMP THIS WHILE IGNITION IS TURNED ON. that wheel is connected to ur bottom crank thats connected to ur piston rods that move ur pistons up and down :P hope this helps.

try checking the electronic coil as most 94 vauxhal tend to have faullt with coils

Re; How you check there is fuel coming from the fuel pump?

Take all the plugs out and get someone to turn the engine over, a small mist should should be seen or smelt, doesnt take loads to get it firing. Use safety and dont smoke or have any naked flames.

have you checked the coil to make sure you are getting the output? also check the relay as those were bad on vauxhall of that age and some had a resistance wire built into the curcuit so if you look in the manual for the wireing diagram you should see if one is in you car
