sounds like youve got the same problem that i am trying to fix at the min. the arm from the drivers side wiper that connects to the motor has come off if u open the bonnet and get underneath the plastic under your wipers very fiddley u can see or feel an arm and theres a ball joint on the back of the motor which turns just reconnect the arm to it i did that but now mine has sheered off totally so i have to get new linkage
