Evesham Blue Media 6300 Sat Nav, no signal, help fix please?

I have an Evesham Blue Media BM6300 Sat Nav device. It seems to be working 100%,... except no signal.

I bought it from IN CAR EXPRESS in Sept 2005. I even did a return about a month after, but its been good since. Recently it started having problems with picking up a signal. When it works, it keeps going for a couple of days. But for about a week now, the unit has not picked up any signal. It is fully reset and charged, but no joy!

I called In Car Express, they said that the unit can only be repaired by Evesham.

I called Evesham, and they said they no longer support any of their resellers, and cannot offer me any advice. you need to go back to In Car Express.

Is there a repairer that anyone knows that can have a look at this and fix it for me. I undersatnd that I will have to pay for this service, I am willing to pay.

Please help !

Jasbur,

I can't guarantee that this is the asnwer but my 6300 stopped working properly, in just the same way as yours, just before Christmas and, on examining the unit, I discovered that one of the soldered pads to the charger socket had pulled away from the printed circuit board. Whilst the unit continues to charge up it does not pick up satellites. This leads me to believe that power is not getting to the relevant part of the receiver.

Like you I tried Evesham and they couldn't/wouldn't help me and, an independant retailer said he didn't think it could be repaired.

The only way you can see if your's has suffered the same fate is to remove the back cover and check the charger socket carefully to see if your sat-nav has suffered the same as mine.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Regards,

Graham.
