how do I repair scratches to a beech laminate kitchen work surface?

My last tenant has left a lot of scratches, not particularly deep and caused by using kitchen knives direct onto the surface, to an expensive beech laminate kitchen work surface. The work surface was imported from Germany and will cost alot to replace as there will also be collateral damage to the tiling above the surface, incidentally these tiles are discontinued so that makes the problem even worse. I would like to reduce the cost to the last tenant and the inconvenience to the new tenant and so am looking for a way of repairing the scratches.

I have had a specialist french polisher look at it but he couldn't help because it is laminate not wood.

Phone a company called 'Magic Man' on 0845 458 1010. They can repairs chips and scratches on just about any surface. They did a chip on my bath, and a scratch on my kitchen door, and I cant tell where the damage used to be!

You can buy a wood filler from most DIY stores that should match the beech finish, i have used this on laminate flooring that had been chipped, they are expensive for what they are but would be cheaper than replacing it all! Alternatively wax crayon? I guess it depends on how deep the scratches are.
