Another way to accomplish this repair is to purchase a tool called JackTight. It's an input/output repair tool for electric guitar and bass. You can purchase it for under $20 and saves you the hassle of taking apart your guitar or bass. You can check it out at JackTight.com

You have to "hold" the jack with small screwdriver. put the screwdriver in the hole (jack),you have to find the positive contact and press the srew driver against. With your other hand, tighten the nut. The screw driver will keep the jack from turning. It could be easier if you can look at a guitar jack, in your hand to see what I mean.

Unscrew the plate that holds the jack in the guitar. Pull the jack out.

Plug a lead into the jack and see which parts are lose. Then its just a case of squeezing them tighter.

You really need to get behind the socket somehow as simply turning the plastic nut will cause the socket to rotate, probably snapping the wires. Usually this is on a separate panel that unscrews?
