How can I fix my Hotpoint Aquarius 1000 De luxe WM 22?

I have a Hotpoint Aquarius 1000 de luxe WM 22 washing machine which makes a loud banging noise and also leaks after it has finished the cycle and I have taken the washing out. Someone suggested it may be the filter. How do I get to the filter to have a look at it? Do you need to take off the panel at the bottom of the machine?
Thanks

Hi again, forgot to add - the drum on my machine also has a rumbling sound, and occasional bang. I am replacing the bearings as a matter of course just in case. The inner rollers under the drum (I am told) may also need some lubrication or replacement. I got mine off ebay for £5 (approx $8 - $10). Shop around. Take care xx

Hi, I am no expert and I have no experience with your model. I have an Aquarius 1400 which I have been repairing for a friend. On the 1400, there is no drain, I cant find one anyway, but there is a pump etc at the back as there probably is on most machines. If I had your prob on my machine I would ISOLATE POWER !!! then remove back plate of machine and check where the leak was coming from. My machine had a small split in the plastic casing around the drum. I dried the casing and smothered it with silicone sealer. Left it to dry and had no further leaks there. Also, whilst the back was off, I checked that the pipe coming from drum was secure and then to pump. Hope this helps a little. Just check also that you have not got too much water pressure. I initially had a prob whereby the water was coming in that fast, a small leak was developing over the side of the detergent tray. And finally just check that the door seal is ok. All the best with your repairs, and hope this helps, sorry if it doesnt but as I said, I am a "trial and error" kind of guy. BUT SAFE !

All the best
