Power cut has placed a fault on my house alarm?

The power at my house went off for 2 hours and now I cannot set the alarm, the alarm is a veritas r8, 12 years old and nver had problems. Now when I press the set buttons on the control panel, they just make a dull bleep sound, whichever one I press. The system shows as unset,1 to 6 lights are on, which are zone light for the sensors, number 8 isflashing which is the panic alarm.I saw one email saying turn off the electric and take out the backup battery and this will reset it, or willthe tamper go off forever, leaving me the most hate man in the street. Anyone to help pse, thanks, abo

Just remove the mains , unhook the battery , turn on mains (alarm will start to beep) take note of the battery type / size , reconnect it , close the panel .Enter your code to stop the alarm .

Get a replacement battery from CEF , maplin etc.

Be careful around hazardous voltages.

Sounds like the battery has gone anyway
Get a new battery and turn the mains power off to change it.
