The only timing marks are on the camshafts drive, if they are out the engine will not run! and the pistons will become good friends with the valves!!!! the spark timing is done by the engine ECU based on the camshafts position in relation to the crankshaft position. For the camshafts alignment(timing) get a haynes manual (local library)
