Treadmill turns on long enough for error code to display then shuts off what's happening?

It's a Sears Free Spirit Club Series Model #309190 from Hebb Industries.

I was wondering if anyone can help me out?
My Sears free spirit treadmill stopped working on me tonight, I've had it for a few years now and not sure what happened to it?
I was on it going 8 mph and it stopped just like that on me, and now it's not doing anything.

Hi Mark,
This is Ram for Bangkok. I have the T560 (Healthstream) treadmill and as I increase the speed the e-40 shows up and stop the treadmill. What could be the problem? Thanks for your advise.

If your treadmill has an optical speed sensor and hasn't been cleaned for a while, dust dirt or lint may be obstructing the
infared eye of the speed sensor. Try cleaning the treadmill.
Also check with hebb on what an error 1 is. I bet it's speed sensor related.
