What is Fn key? when suggested Fn+F1
yula, March 2008
Brilliant!!! Thank you so much.. pressed the Fn then F1 button, a little box came up and it was as simple as clicking on the 'Yes' button. Wireless all working now, whereas I thought we were going to have to send the laptop away for costly repairs - or even throw the b....y thing away!

We've had this issue at the school where I provide support where we've had laptops with the wireless lights on but fn+F1 will not allow you to switch it on or off. The issue has mainly arisen with pupil laptops where we disabled the launch manager.

Therefore, if the fn+F1 is not working you will probably need to reinstall the launch manager, i.e. when you are in Windows and press fn+F1 you should get a window detailing the wireless and bluetooth connections.

If you go to Fujitsu's website you can download the latest version for your particular model of laptop. Run the setup and if prompted to uninstall first do this, then do a fresh reinstall. After reinstalling and a reboot you should find the launch manager is now working correctly and fn+F1 will now turn the wireless on and off.

Thanks guys.

fn+f1 is the key for wireless

jay, October 2008
I had the same problem - it is Fn + F1 but you have to press the Fn key a split second before the F1 key. This brings up a grey box which will allow you to switch on the wireless.

seventiescopshow, April 2008
fn key is located generally next to alt or ctrl it usually is at the bottom left in faded blue lettering. pressed together with f1 should activate the wireless.

If you use the help on your PC it will tell you how to. It may be a physical switch or a series of keystrokes.
