My Playstation 2 suddenly stopped working?

I have a Playstation 2, not a slimline, several years old and up until a few days ago, it was working perfectly. Now when I turn it on, I get no visual and no audio. I checked all the cables and plugs both relative and unrelated to the PS2 and everything was in order. I tried with a disc, without a disc, with a controller plugged in, without a controller plugged in, with two memory cards, one memory card, no memory cards and -finally- checked all the channels on my television, all to no avail. The machine itself seems to be in full working order, and yet nothing is displayed or heard. I also tried shifting the PS2 to two different televisions (one which the Playstation had been used on previously) also with no luck.

I honestly don't understand what's gone wrong, it was working a few days ago and now - nothing. Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Its possible a surge attacked your system, its always best to play a PS2 plugged in2 a surge protecting extension cord as the electronics are not at all different to a laptop PC, when the surge happened it mite ahve zapped your Av procesor inside the thing, take it along to your local TV/Stereo repir shop they should be able to help
